Introduction
The “Online Neurodevelopmental Evaluation (ONE) System” is a new web-based intelligent evaluation system. ONE contains a newly created neurodevelopmental evaluation question bank designated specific for Taiwanese children. The questions cover six major developmental domains, including gross motor, fine motor, expressive language, receptive language, cognitive function, and socio-emotional development. ONE is equipped with a powerful intelligent questionnaire generating system which selects subsequent questions based on parental inputs. The assessment repeats until a developmental age is assigned. This makes each testing a very personalized experience. In addition, because ONE constitutes 14 tests across 0-6 age groups, it offers longitudinal follow-ups, simulating clinical evaluations. The system is able to identify children needing early intervention services, and filter out those who do not. This will help mitigate the long waiting times at the early intervention centers. ONE system has high accuracy (92%) and precision rates (98.8%) and also high sensitivity (93.3%), meaning it has an extraordinary ability on detecting developmental abnormalities. Therefore, ONE is a perfect developmental screening tool, providing pediatricians and parents in-depth analysis on children’s developments and can also be utilized in telemedicine to assist physicians and parents assessing children in rural area. ONE makes early identification of developmental abnormalities possible, and provides immediate therapeutic and intervention plans.
