Introduction
The KIKKOMAN A3 ATP Hygiene Monitoring System combines the Lumitester™ Smart chemiluminescence meter with LuciPac® A3 Surface pre‑moistened swabs. Unlike conventional ATP assays, Kikkoman’s patented A3 chemistry converts ADP and AMP into ATP and uses chemiluminescence (also known as cold light) to detect total adenylates, resulting in higher sensitivity. After swabbing a 10×10 cm area, the moistened swab is inserted into the reaction tube and then into the meter; results (RLU values) appear in about 10 seconds. This technology detects residues from blood, body fluids, faeces and microorganisms and is suitable for validating equipment cleaning in hospitals (CSSD), monitoring hygiene in food and beverage production lines, and checking sterile filling areas. A companion app and cloud service allow users to set pass/fail thresholds and track trends over time.
Features / strengths
1. A3 cold-light detection technology: Detects ATP, ADP, and AMP for a more complete hygiene assessment than conventional ATP-only testing.
2. 10-second rapid measurement: Provides RLU results quickly after sampling and reaction, supporting real-time cleaning verification.
3. Pre-moistened swab: Ready to use without adding water, ideal for on-site hygiene inspection.
4. Simple three-step operation: Sampling, reaction, and measurement can be completed easily.
5. Suitable for healthcare cleaning verification: Applicable to high-touch surfaces, medical equipment, patient areas, treatment rooms, and post-cleaning checks.
6. App and cloud data management: Measurement data can be synchronized to mobile devices and cloud systems for multi-point monitoring and trend tracking.
7. Quantitative hygiene control: RLU values help users establish pass/fail limits and improve cleaning programs.
8. Certification support: LuciPac A3 Surface has obtained AOAC-RI PTM certification.
