On the 6th, OBI Pharma announced its first technology collaboration for its antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) product line by signing an ADC development services Master Services Agreement (MSA) with U.S.-based TegMine Therapeutics (“TegMine”). Under the agreement, OBI Pharma will collaborate with TegMine to leverage its independently developed glycan conjugation technology platform GlycOBI, combined with the proprietary bifunctional enzyme EndoSymeOBI and linker technology HYPrOBI, to develop ADC candidates with clinical development potential. Upon successful development, both parties may further enter into licensing agreements.
OBI Pharma CEO Heidi Wang stated that the collaboration fully leverages the technical strengths of both companies, not only advancing OBI’s ADC product development but also actively expanding strategic partnerships for innovative ADC technology platforms. OBI Pharma looks forward to jointly developing innovative ADC candidates with TegMine to help cancer patients with urgent medical needs.
TegMine CEO Jeff Bernstein highlighted that the collaboration represents a high level of integration between two innovative platforms. OBI’s ADC technology and TegMine’s focus on cancer-specific glycan targets complement each other. Through this partnership, there is an opportunity to co-develop new ADC drugs with high tumor specificity and strong therapeutic efficacy.
OBI Pharma noted that following the discontinuation of development for its products OBI-822 and OBI-833, the company has continued progressing actively—publishing papers on the international stage while initiating organizational restructuring and optimization, including reducing over one-quarter of its workforce. This resource integration aims to enable the company to move forward more efficiently.
Heidi Wang emphasized that beyond organizational and workforce adjustments, OBI Pharma will further focus its resources on ADC product development and promotion of core technology platform collaborations to enhance operational efficiency and market responsiveness, striving to establish a stable operating model.
