Acepodia and Biocytogen Partner to Co-Develop Innovative Anti-Cancer Therapy BsAD2CJan 09, 2025

Acepodia, a regenerative medicine company, announced on January 8 a strategic collaboration with Hong Kong-listed Biocytogen Pharmaceuticals. The partnership aims to jointly develop a bispecific antibody-drug conjugate (BsAD2C), targeting two major challenges in cancer treatment—tumor heterogeneity and drug resistance. This collaboration seeks to provide innovative solutions to these pressing issues.

Acepodia stated that the partnership combines Biocytogen’s RenLite platform with Acepodia’s Antibody-Drug Conjugate (AD2C) technology. Using a dual-drug delivery approach, the goal is to address hard-to-treat and recurrent cancers with precision, resulting in more effective therapeutic options. The integration of bispecific antibodies (BsAb) with AD2C technology not only enhances drug specificity and functionality but also offers a more robust strategy to combat tumor heterogeneity and resistance.

Headquartered in Taipei and Alameda, California, Acepodia is dedicated to developing innovative therapies for cancer and autoimmune diseases. The company focuses on first-in-class allogeneic cell therapies, leveraging various conjugation technology platforms to deliver treatments with superior specificity, lasting efficacy, and enhanced safety.

Biocytogen, based in Beijing, is an internationally recognized biotech company driven by innovative technologies. It has developed the RenMice platform (RenMab, RenLite, RenNano, and RenTCR-mimic) using foundational gene-editing technology to discover fully human therapeutic monoclonal antibodies, bispecific/multispecific antibodies, bispecific ADCs, nanobodies, and TCR-like antibodies. As of June 30, 2024, Biocytogen had signed approximately 150 drug development/licensing/transfer agreements, including around 50 target projects through RenMice platform collaborations with multinational pharmaceutical companies and biotech firms. Several clinical-stage antibody molecules have also been out-licensed. The company’s BioMice brand provides thousands of genetically engineered animal and cell models, including humanized target mice, and offers preclinical pharmacological efficacy and gene-editing services to global clients. Biocytogen has offices in China (Jiangsu Haimen and Shanghai), the United States (Boston and San Francisco), and Heidelberg, Germany.

Biocytogen’s President and CEO, Yuelei Shen, expressed excitement about collaborating with Acepodia, a partner with deep expertise in click chemistry technology. This partnership, combining Biocytogen’s RenLite bispecific antibody technology with Acepodia’s AD2C platform, aims to explore the therapeutic potential of highly effective bispecific antibody-drug conjugates (BsAD2C).

Acepodia’s co-founder and CEO, Sonny Hsiao, stated that Biocytogen’s excellent bispecific antibody technology and highly collaborative team make them an ideal partner to advance Acepodia’s AD2C platform. This collaboration redefines the possibilities of ADC design and promises to bring breakthrough treatment options to patients in urgent need of new therapies.
