Diamond Biotechnology officially announced on January 7 that its flagship PDO thread lifting product has received the Class III medical device registration certificate from the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) in China, granting it market approval. Made from poly(p-dioxanone) (PDO), this single-use product provides a non-surgical facial lifting effect. General Manager Chia-Hsien Hsieh stated that the NMPA certification is highly significant as it marks the international competitiveness of Taiwan-developed medical threads and lays the foundation for entering China's regenerative aesthetic market.
The global thread lifting market continues to heat up. According to a report by WISEGUY, the market size is expected to reach USD 7.48 billion in 2024 and grow to USD 13.4 billion by 2032, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 7.55%. The Asia-Pacific region holds a 25% share of the global market.
Chia-Hsien Hsieh emphasized that the NMPA certification signifies that Taiwan-developed medical threads have gained international competitiveness, setting the stage for the company to enter the Chinese regenerative aesthetic market.
Regulated medical products are scarce in China, and as a technology leader in the regenerative aesthetic field, Diamond Biotechnology has strengthened its investment in technological research and product innovation. In addition, Diamond Biotechnology is actively expanding into the Chinese market. Shanghai Xiangzuan Medical Technology Co., Ltd. will serve as the exclusive distributor of "METEORA" in China. The company has increased its sponsorship of the 2025 Facial Thread Lifting Technology Competition to deeply integrate theoretical discussion with practical demonstration, aiming to find and cultivate talented professionals. The plan includes extending Taiwan’s "Top 100 Thread Lifting Doctors" program to China, starting with the training of 100 seed doctors, and expanding to 1,000 through a ripple-effect model to promote the health and prosperity of the light aesthetic market. In the first 11 months of this year, the company’s revenue reached NT$676 million, an increase of 22% year-on-year. Hsieh stated that the company will continue to focus on Taiwan while expanding globally, with plans to invest in the Chinese team and channel development as a foundation for the next five years. With increasing shipments in Southeast Asia and medium-to-long-term plans for Northeast Asia, Diamond Biotechnology expects stable growth in its operations in 2025.
