Chi-Huey Wong: Taiwan Possesses 3 Precious Assets; Biotech Should Shift from "Manufacturing" to "Innovation"Dec 17, 2025

IBMI President Chi-Huey Wong stated that Taiwan possesses three rare global advantages: AI chip manufacturing capabilities, high-quality medical services, and comprehensive clinical data accumulated via National Health Insurance. These form the foundation for AI-driven biotechnology and smart healthcare. He argued that Taiwan's biotech industry is at a critical crossroads and must evolve from "Made in Taiwan" to "Created in Taiwan."

At the IBMI general meeting today, Wong highlighted that these unique conditions allow Taiwan to integrate AI, biotech, and medical innovation to lead the next wave of industrial growth. While the election for the 8th Board of Directors and Supervisors was postponed to a later date in accordance with regulations, Wong emphasized the IBMI's role as a core force connecting the medical, technological, and biomedical sectors.

Looking toward 2026, Wong stated that the IBMI has initiated tasks across four dimensions—Policy & Regulation, Industrial Cooperation, International Connectivity, and Government Collaboration—to accelerate Taiwan's biomedical and tech industries on the global stage and realize the national vision of a "Healthy Taiwan."
