Quanta Partners with National Defense Medical Center and Military Medical Bureau to Integrate Technology into Battlefield MedicineJun 18, 2025

On the 17th, Quanta Computer announced a collaboration with the Ministry of National Defense’s Military Medical Bureau and the National Defense Medical Center to jointly develop an “Electronic Casualty Tag System,” bringing technological innovation into battlefield medical care by enabling real-time digital processing of patient information. Chairman Barry Lin emphasized that through this tripartite partnership, the goal is to enhance the current disaster medical response system and rapidly improve adaptability across various operational environments.

This collaboration integrates AI analysis, wireless communication, vital sign monitoring, and real-time data transmission. Quanta provides the core system architecture and supports the intelligent healthcare platform, equipped with its proprietary QOCA telehealth technology, which can be flexibly deployed across mobile units and frontline medical facilities.

The system allows for real-time recording of basic patient information, vital signs, and triage status, securely transmitting encrypted data to command centers and rear medical units. This significantly improves the efficiency of information flow and the accuracy of rescue command decisions.

The Military Medical Bureau contributes by validating operational requirements and supporting inter-service implementation, while the Medical Education and Training Center of the National Defense Medical Center leads academic and research execution, leveraging years of experience in combat injury assessment, battlefield medical workflows, and medical information systems.

Barry Lin remarked, “Doctors are the smartest people, and it’s not easy to satisfy the smartest people,” highlighting the challenges of advancing in the smart healthcare field. Quanta’s development in this area focuses on three major pillars: AI-powered healthcare, telemedicine, and personalized care, all of which are already underway. The company has maintained long-term collaboration with the National Defense Medical Center and the Tri-Service General Hospital, successfully executing numerous joint projects based on the QOCA platform through public-private-academic partnerships.

Quanta CTO Johnny Chang noted that the company does not focus on standalone devices but rather on comprehensive medical solutions. By integrating hardware, software, operational environments, and backend configurations—with the option to incorporate AI—Quanta aims to deliver customized solutions tailored to the actual needs of hospitals and physicians.

Looking ahead, the system’s functionalities will continue to be optimized and expanded into more use-case scenarios, with plans to fully deploy it within active-duty units, military training exercises, and disaster response drills. The collaboration will also extend to disaster preparedness, telemedicine, and interagency cooperative platforms.
