BiOptic Advances in Japan: Partners with MARTEK and Pharmigene to Drive CollaborationApr 17, 2025

BiOptic has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with MARTEK and Pharmigene, joining forces to explore business opportunities in Japan’s biomedical innovation and medical diagnostics markets, aiming to tap into the growing demand for precision health.

BiOptic stated that this collaboration builds upon the company's earlier partnership with MARTEK and Otsuka Electronics last year, when they signed a joint agreement to promote and sell the Qsep Ultra bio-fragment analyzer and related testing reagent kits in Japan. The new partnership marks a further step in expanding BiOptic’s footprint in the Japanese market.

Under the MOU, BiOptic, MARTEK, and Pharmigene will first establish a joint working group to assess market demand, integrate technologies, and address regulatory issues specific to Japan. The group will meet regularly to strategize and ensure both flexibility and continuity in the collaboration. Specifics on technology development and product plans will be addressed in a formal agreement to be signed at a later stage.

Tsai, Shou-Kuan, Chairman of BiOptic, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership with MARTEK and Pharmigene. He noted that BiOptic will provide a highly competitive and user-friendly diagnostic platform, while Pharmigene contributes its strong capabilities in genetic testing reagent development, and MARTEK offers robust market access. By combining their respective strengths in the biopharmaceutical field, the three companies aim to uncover unmet needs in Japan’s health and wellness market, localize innovative technologies and products, enhance market competitiveness, and increase brand influence to create a win-win outcome.

In recent years, BiOptic has continued to expand its global marketing channels. Tsai pointed out that Asia remains a core sales region for the company. Through active participation in international exhibitions and increased brand visibility, BiOptic has successfully entered the European market, which is now one of its fastest-growing regions. Currently, the company’s revenue mainly comes from the European and Asian markets, meaning it is not affected by U.S. reciprocal tariffs. In fact, since many competing products originate from the U.S., this dynamic may further boost BiOptic’s sales in markets outside the U.S. Looking ahead, the company will continue to monitor U.S. tariff policy developments and adjust its business strategies accordingly to maximize profitability.
