Te-Li Chen, Chairman of BioGend Therapeutics, stated at an investor conference on the 24th that with overseas licensing gradually yielding results and Taiwan sales continuing to grow at a double-digit rate, the next three years will be a critical period for the company’s transformation.
BioGend, which specializes in biological regenerative bone materials, reported revenue of NT$167 million last year, reflecting a 52% year-over-year increase. Its net loss per share narrowed from NT$1.3 to NT$0.95.
Chen noted that BioGend’s autologous cartilage regeneration technology has passed Phase III clinical trials and entered the market, with procurement by 90% of major medical centers. The number of clinicians and patients using the technology has multiplied in recent years. Initially developed for knee joint applications, its indications have expanded to the shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip, and ankle joints. Notably, 20% of its patients have osteoarthritis, and the company expects sustained high growth in the coming years.
In the overseas market, BioGend has already obtained market approvals in Macau, Cambodia, Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, and Singapore, and this year, the company will focus on driving international sales. Negotiations for global licensing deals are ongoing, and relevant updates will be disclosed at an appropriate time in accordance with regulations.
Additionally, BioGend’s bone growth promotion technology has completed three Phase II clinical trials. The company is also exploring applications in dentistry—having completed a Phase II clinical trial for alveolar bone augmentation in Japan—as well as in veterinary medicine.
For moderate to severe open fractures requiring bone grafting, patient enrollment is underway in Taiwan and the U.S. Interim analysis data indicate that even at low doses, the treatment achieves healing effects comparable to the standard autologous bone grafting approach.
BioGend plans to submit a final clinical trial report to Taiwan’s Ministry of Health and Welfare upon completing data analysis, while simultaneously negotiating licensing agreements with international partners.
Furthermore, BioGend’s severe infection division is actively developing new products, aiming to launch at least one new product per year starting in 2027 to diversify its portfolio and drive revenue growth.
