Standard Chem & Pharm, a leading generic drug manufacturer, is continuing its push to introduce new products domestically, with an estimated 3-5 self-developed products slated for release next year. Among these, two diabetes treatments and one hypertension medication are planned for the first half of the year, while a blood sugar-lowering drug and a psychiatric medication are scheduled for the second half. The two diabetes products launching in the first half will include one as Taiwan’s first generic drug company to enter this market and another challenging a patent for an early market release under the P4 category, granting it exclusive rights in its first year.
The market is optimistic that Standard Chem & Pharm's domestic pharmaceutical sales will continue to grow, with overall revenue expected to increase by double digits. Historically, Standard Chem & Pharm has been a leading player in the treatment of the "three highs" (hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and hyperglycemia) in Taiwan, with a full range of products and a high market share. Building on this, the company is advancing its self-developed new products. The two diabetes treatments launching in the first half of next year are expected to capture significant market share, given that Standard Chem & Pharm already holds a strong position in hospital and clinic distribution channels, which will aid in driving sales growth after their release.
In addition to the domestic market, Standard Chem & Pharm accelerated its overseas expansion in the second half of 2023, following the gradual easing of the pandemic. The company currently has multiple products awaiting certification or involved in Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO) services in the U.S., Japan, and China. Overseas growth is expected to follow through by the end of 2025 or into 2026.
