Revolutionizing Body Sculpting: NHRI's Sonic-Radio Dual Energy TechnologyDec 01, 2024

A research team led by Gin-Shin Chen, a fellow at the National Health Research Institutes (NHRI), has pioneered the development of the Sonic-Radio Dual Energy Technology. This groundbreaking innovation is set to transform traditional body contouring methods, heralding a new era in health and beauty.

Unlike conventional approaches relying on light, electricity, magnetic fields, or cooling, ultrasound offers deeper and more focused treatment. By integrating sonic and radiofrequency energies, the dual-energy technology delivers precise, fast, and safe solutions for enhancing body contours and promoting a healthier physique. This innovation effectively reduces localized fat and tightens the skin. Animal studies demonstrated remarkable improvements in live pigs within a short period, with no recovery time required, showcasing high safety and efficacy.

Precision Fat Reduction and Skin Tightening: Core Insights into Dual Energy Technology

The core of this dual-energy technology lies in its unique energy synergy. The linear-focused ultrasound technique precisely targets and destroys fat cells, replacing conventional point-based fat reduction with line-based fat reduction. This significantly improves efficiency, cutting treatment time by an average of 60% and enhancing fat reduction effectiveness by over 200%. Additionally, the concentrated heat reduces damage to surrounding tissues, ensuring safer treatments. The technology also stimulates collagen regeneration, addressing skin laxity.

Existing high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) fat reduction methods rely on HIFU to break down fat cells and release free lipids. However, the prolonged metabolism of free lipids limits their effectiveness. The NHRI team innovatively combined HIFU fat reduction with radiofrequency-induced passive motion therapy, significantly accelerating lipid metabolism.

Animal studies revealed that applying HIFU fat reduction to the abdominal area, followed by radiofrequency stimulation of thigh muscles to induce passive motion, redirected lipid metabolism from inflammatory responses to energy circulation for muscle activity. After just two weeks of treatment, experimental pigs showed a 2-inch reduction in waist circumference. This research is the first to demonstrate that combining HIFU with radiofrequency stimulation effectively shortens lipid metabolism time, achieving faster and more pronounced fat reduction.

NHRI’s Innovation: Leading a New Trend in Health and Beauty

Gin-Shin Chen emphasized that Taiwan currently lacks self-branded advanced HIFU equipment, with most ultrasound fat reduction products having dominated the market for over a decade. The Sonic-Radio Dual Energy Technology is the culmination of years of research, offering a safer and more effective solution for health-conscious body contouring.

Chen highlighted the immense market potential of this technology, which not only fulfills consumer demands for health and aesthetics but also injects new growth momentum into the health and beauty industry. Market research indicates a growing demand for non-invasive body contouring procedures. The dual-energy technology is poised to fill this gap, targeting a potential market of over 400 aesthetic clinics in Taiwan.

This innovation also sets a new direction for the health and beauty industry, promoting safer, more effective, and personalized solutions for consumers, paving the way for the next generation of health-focused aesthetic technologies.
