On the 28th, BenQ Medical Technology announced that its subsidiary, K2 International Medical, is venturing into the endoscopy market, aiming to expand its product portfolio. To enhance its competitiveness in the medical industry, K2's board of directors approved the purchase of common shares in Era Bioteq and participation in its capital increase through cash subscription. The total investment is expected to be NT$133 million, securing a 60% stake in Era Bioteq post-increase.
Harry Yang, General Manager of Qisda Medical Group and Vice Chairman of BenQ Medical Technology, stated that BenQ Medical is advancing with a strategic approach focused on creating a comprehensive medical fleet. The company is concentrating on three major areas: medical equipment, medical consumables, and healthcare services. Through K2 International’s investment in Era Bioteq, BenQ Medical aims to continuously strengthen its competitive edge in the medical industry, fostering a mutually beneficial partnership.
Ming Zen Chen, Chairman of K2 International, noted that the global endoscopy equipment market is growing steadily each year. By investing in Era Bioteq, K2 International will expand its distribution channels for endoscopic medical devices, further enhancing its presence in the medical field.
Era Bioteq, an agent for endoscopic equipment and consumables, provides treatment instruments and materials related to gastroscopes, colonoscopes, and bronchoscopes. The company represents well-known minimally invasive medical device brands from the United States, Germany, France, Japan, and mainland China, with products applicable in both endoscopic treatment and surgical procedures.
Liu Wei Sheng, Chairman and General Manager of Era Bioteq, emphasized that Era Bioteq offers the most advanced endoscopic instruments and materials, aiming to broaden the clinical applications of endoscopic surgery. The company has established training centers in Taipei and Kaohsiung to promote endoscopic surgery. Liu expressed optimism that through this collaboration, Era Bioteq will gain additional resources, enabling endoscopic medical technology to take root and continue advancing in Taiwan.
