Shi An, General Manager of Vizionfocus, a leading contact lens manufacturer, recently announced that the company secured regulatory approval for its silicone hydrogel lens in Mainland China this June and began shipments in August. This move is expected to be a new growth driver for the company's revenue in the second half of the year. Vizionfocus plans to obtain approvals for its silicone hydrogel contact lenses in the U.S. and Japan by the end of 2024 and 2025, respectively, aiming to fully ramp up production in 2025.
Industry analysts estimate that the gross profit margin of Vizionfocus's newly launched silicone hydrogel products will be 3 to 5 percent higher than that of existing products. It is expected that starting next year, the revenue contribution from silicone hydrogel products will exceed double digits, thereby boosting the overall gross profit margin.
In the first half of 2024, Vizionfocus reported consolidated revenue of NT$1.497 billion, marking a year-on-year growth of over 40%, with after-tax net profit reaching NT$355 million, a growth of more than 70%. The company achieved an earnings per share (EPS) of NT$6.3 during this period. For the first seven months of this year, Vizionfocus's consolidated revenue amounted to NT$1.73 billion, reflecting a year-on-year increase of 34.37%.
Shi noted that while the company's revenue bottomed out in June, it is expected to gradually rise in the second half of the year, with overall revenue for the second half projected to surpass that of the first half. Although growth in the Chinese market may not be as strong as last year, the addition of orders from Japanese clients and the launch of new products are expected to result in impressive annual revenue growth.
