Following the early achievement of its annual revenue target of NT$10 billion, Bora Pharmaceuticals is set to launch a new five-year plan in 2024, aiming to double its revenue by 2029. Chairman Bobby Sheng stated that in addition to ongoing acquisitions, the company is ramping up production at its Zhunan, Jingde, and Canadian plants this year. The Tainan plant, which has received an overwhelming number of orders, will focus on enhancing efficiency. Overall, the outlook for this year’s operations is optimistic.
Benefiting from the impact of acquisitions, Bora is initiating its third five-year plan ahead of schedule. The first plan aimed for NT$2 billion, and the second plan aimed to challenge NT$10 billion by 2024. Analysts believe that with the inclusion of revenues from the acquisition of USL and the injectable plant in the second and fourth quarters, respectively, this year’s revenue could surge to NT$20 billion, with potential profits exceeding three times the equity.
Bobby Sheng noted that the benefits of acquisitions include not only increasing CDMO orders and acquiring product sales but also filling up production capacity in the second phase, followed by expansion. If subsidiaries perform exceptionally well, listing them on the stock exchange will also be considered.
Thanks to increased international recognition, Bora continues to expand production capacity this year. Bobby Sheng mentioned that the Tainan plant has consistently operated at full capacity, so the focus is on improving efficiency. The Zhunan plant is also nearing full capacity, with plans to add production lines, packaging, and expand warehousing this year.
A notable aspect of their expansion is the acquisition of GSK's Canadian plant in 2020. Originally operating as a contract manufacturing organization (CMO) without the capability for development (the "D" in CDMO), Bora's strategic adjustments have since enabled the plant to undertake development projects. The revenue contribution from development services has been steadily increasing, prompting plans to expand packaging lines and development equipment production lines this year.
