V5med Inc. is a subsidiary of V5 Technologies, founded by former TSMC Vice President Dr. Kun-Si Lin. Initially focused on providing high-precision, high-accuracy industrial 4.0 automation inspection equipment and services to industries such as semiconductors, solar energy, and PCBs, the company later applied this imaging interpretation system to medical diagnostics. This led to the creation of V5med Inc., which developed the low-dose CT lung nodule AI detection product "V5 lung imaging aided interpretation software" for lung cancer screening. With an outstanding detection efficiency of over 95%, the product first received certification from Taiwan's Ministry of Health and Welfare (TFDA). Since its launch a year ago, it has been adopted by nearly 30 hospitals in Taiwan, becoming an essential tool in the medical diagnosis of lung nodules.
V5med Inc. highlighted that during the product certification and market launch process, the guidance and support from the FDA's AI/ML Medical Device Office (AI Office) played a crucial role in ensuring the product met high-quality standards, which was a key factor in its rapid market acceptance.
