Quanta's decade-long transformation: building an AI healthcare ecosystemApr 01, 2024

Quanta's Chief Technology Officer and Vice President, Ted Chang, stated at the Smart Healthcare Forum hosted by the Electronics and Information Industries Association on the 29th that Quanta undergoes a major transformation every decade. In the past, from PCs to cloud computing, and then to AI computing, each shift has been significant. Chang emphasized that developing the AI healthcare industry cannot be achieved by Quanta alone. In the future, there will be closer collaboration with the medical community to create an ecosystem, leveraging seven major technologies such as "ABCDEFG" to penetrate the AI healthcare industry.

Chang pointed out that AI, which was in the shallow learning stage 30 years ago, has now entered the deep learning stage, directly impacting the IT industry. He reiterated Quanta's approach of realizing customer ideas as its guiding principle throughout its journey.

According to Chang, AI is expected to contribute $15.7 trillion to the global economy by 2030, with healthcare being a key area. Approximately 66% of hospitals plan to increase AI spending, with over 36% already implementing AI solutions.

Chang emphasized that developing the AI healthcare industry requires collaboration beyond Quanta alone, with increased engagement with the medical community to build an ecosystem.

As AI evolves, Chang highlighted its potential to accelerate therapy development, with high-performance computing speeding up machine learning. Applications of AI in rapidly developing therapies also include precision health vaccines for COVID-19.

Quanta is also positioning itself in AI healthcare through its subsidiary QOCA. Chang outlined that the encompassing technologies will include "ABCDEFG," namely Artificial Intelligence (AI), Big Data, Cloud Computing, AIoT Devices, Edge Computing, FinTech, and 5G/6G.
