Mycenax Biotech and Japanese Partners Jointly Invest NT$3 Billion in New Bio-PlantDec 30, 2025

Mycenax Biotech (永昕) announced at its investor conference on the 29th that it is deepening its Japanese strategic layout. Chairperson Chen Pei-chun revealed a joint venture with three major Japanese firms—Alfresa Holdings, Kidswell Bio, and Chiome Bioscience—to establish Alfenax Biologics Corporation. The venture involves an investment exceeding NT$3 billion to build a production base in Japan.

Key Details:

  • Capacity and Funding: The new plant in Akita is scheduled for groundbreaking in 2027 and production in 2030. It will feature mammalian cell process capacity up to 12,000 liters and an annual output of 10 million injectable doses. The project has secured a 50% subsidy from Japan’s MHLW, with Mycenax Biotech contributing a 45% stake (approx. NT$675 million).
  • Strategic Synergy: The Akita plant will serve as an extension of Mycenax Biotech’s two existing GMP plants in Taiwan. While Akita focuses on manufacturing (CMO), the associated process development (PD) demands will flow back to Mycenax Biotech Taiwan, driving project momentum.
  • ADC Expansion: Beyond traditional biologics, Mycenax Biotech is accelerating its Antibody-Drug Conjugate (ADC) one-stop services, utilizing licensed VLK linker technology from Japan's RIN Institute alongside its proprietary Multi-arm linker technology.
