Bora Pharmaceuticals’ August Revenue Declines Over 20%, Generic Drug Orders Gradually RecoveringSep 11, 2025

Bora Pharmaceuticals reported preliminary consolidated revenue of NT$1.37 billion for August, down more than 20% compared with both the previous month and the same period last year. Cumulative revenue for January through August reached approximately NT$13.2 billion, up 14.8% year-on-year. The company stated that while its CDMO business has successfully navigated the integration period and recorded growth in August, a decline in generic drug sales due to delayed shipments requested by clients offset the CDMO gains. Starting in September, shipment delays have eased, and demand for generic drugs is gradually picking up.

The CDMO segment achieved month-on-month growth of 17.5% and year-on-year growth of 29.7%, returning to early-year momentum. From January to August, CDMO revenue increased 59.5% year-on-year, with new customer inquiries for U.S. production capacity steadily rising. Additionally, the Plymouth, Minnesota facility is being sold in two phases: the smaller area suitable for warehousing and packaging has already been sold, while multiple potential buyers are evaluating the main production line area.

For generic drugs, inventory clearance for products removed to optimize gross margins is nearing completion. The company continues to actively adjust its generic portfolio, with specialty drugs maintaining double-digit quarterly growth. As shipment delays ease in September, generic order momentum is gradually recovering. Globally, sales performance is roughly in line with last year, with growth in specialty drugs and approvals for select generics in the fourth quarter remaining key drivers for further expansion.

Specifically, August revenue of NT$1.37 billion represents a 23.68% decline from July and a 26.63% decline from the same month last year. January–August cumulative revenue of NT$13.2 billion reflects a 14.8% year-on-year increase. In U.S. dollar terms, August revenue remained above the March low. The August decline primarily stemmed from delayed shipments for client-specific requests, which slowed generic drug sales. Although CDMO operations resumed growth, the Maple Grove facility’s separation from the Upsher-Smith operational system, along with the launch of two independent operational systems, required shipment adjustments that could not fully offset the decline in generic sales.
