AmCad BioMed announced that its AmCAD-UT® LIVE handheld ultrasound system, which integrates real-time AI analytical technology and thyroid ultrasound assistance software, has been procured for trial use by the Jordanian government. Upon successful evaluation, it is expected to be formally implemented across more than 20 hospitals under the Jordanian royal healthcare system for use in clinical examinations and rural outreach programs.
According to AmCad BioMed CEO Yili Lee, the telemedicine market in the Middle East and Africa is valued at USD 4.51 billion in 2024 and is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 26.8% through 2030. The strong demand for digital healthcare solutions in this region, demonstrated during the Arab Health exhibition, underscores the strategic importance of the Jordanian order as a benchmark case for further expansion into Middle Eastern and emerging markets. This also highlights the global competitiveness and clinical value of Taiwan’s smart medical technologies.
AmCad BioMed is the first smart medical software company in Taiwan with a full product line certified under the EU’s latest MDR regulations. Its flagship product, AmCAD-UT®, is the world’s first AI-based medical software for thyroid analysis to receive U.S. FDA clearance and continues to be enhanced. The latest advancement integrates real-time AI analysis into the handheld AmCAD-UT® LIVE system, enabling physicians to immediately determine the malignancy of thyroid nodules during examinations—eliminating the need for separate image exports and significantly improving diagnostic efficiency and accuracy, while also helping reduce unnecessary surgical interventions.
Earlier this year, AmCad BioMed debuted AmCAD-UT® LIVE at Arab Health, a leading global medical device exhibition, drawing significant attention. The recent trial order from the Jordanian royal healthcare system marks a key step, with plans to deploy the system in over 20 hospitals for thyroid screening and rural healthcare access.
Lee emphasized that handheld ultrasound devices, due to their portability and operational flexibility, are becoming vital imaging tools for rural and primary care settings. With the integration of real-time AI diagnostics, this system overcomes previous performance limitations by allowing simultaneous scanning and interpretation of affected areas, greatly enhancing diagnostic speed and accuracy. It meets the clinical needs of multidisciplinary care in primary settings and provides frontline physicians with precise, real-time decision support.
To date, the system has been featured in over 30 international publications and is among the few handheld ultrasound devices worldwide equipped with real-time AI analysis. It successfully bridges hardware integration with AI computation, offering strong practical utility and global competitiveness, particularly in supporting frontline and rural diagnostics.
