On the 12th, Panion & BF Biotech announced that, as part of its strategy to expand its specialty drug portfolio, it will sign an exclusive licensing agreement with Future Drug Development & Biomedical. Through this agreement, Panion & BF Biotech will obtain exclusive rights in Taiwan to key patented technologies developed by Future Drug for the treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED), along with the preferential exclusive negotiation rights for licensing in China, Hong Kong, and Macau. The licensing deal covers the full value chain, including research and development, registration, manufacturing, sales, and marketing.
The company stated that the licensed technology involves a combination of three already-marketed drugs, with enhancements made to both efficacy and safety. Development will proceed via the 505(b)(2) regulatory pathway, which allows for a shortened development timeline, reduced risk, and faster market entry.
Compared to traditional drug development, clinical trials for ED drugs generally require less time, which will help Panion & BF Biotech accelerate the launch of new products in the Taiwan market. The company also plans to leverage its years of experience in the fields of urology and sexual health to further diversify and strengthen its product offerings.
Under the terms of the agreement, the deal includes an upfront payment, milestone payments, sales royalties, and profit-sharing arrangements for any sublicensing. It also includes the preferential exclusive negotiation rights for licensing in China, Hong Kong, and Macau.
According to a report by Cognitive Market Research, the erectile dysfunction drug market in Taiwan currently generates approximately USD 29.41 million in annual sales. From 2025 to 2033, the market is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 12.1%, surpassing the global average growth rate of 9.5%.
