Acer Medical’s VeriOsteo OP Receives Malaysia MDA Approval, Accelerating Southeast Asia ExpansionApr 07, 2025

Acer Medical, a subsidiary of Acer, announced on Wednesday (April 2) that its AI-powered bone density screening software, VeriOsteo OP, has officially received medical device approval from the Medical Device Authority (MDA) under the Ministry of Health Malaysia. This regulatory milestone paves the way for the product to enter local hospital and clinic markets.

VeriOsteo OP leverages artificial intelligence to analyze chest X-ray images and quickly assess an individual’s risk of abnormal bone mineral density. The solution not only enhances screening efficiency but also facilitates early detection of high-risk populations.

As Malaysia rapidly approaches an aging society, the prevalence of osteoporosis continues to rise. According to data from the Department of Statistics Malaysia, the prevalence of osteoporosis among men aged 50 and above in Kuala Lumpur is 10.6%, while among women it is 8.0%. These figures highlight the growing importance of osteoporosis screening in the country.

Acer Medical is committed to advancing AI in healthcare. The approval of VeriOsteo OP in Malaysia not only marks international recognition of the company’s technology but also creates new opportunities for the development of smart healthcare across Southeast Asia. Looking ahead, Acer Medical will continue to strengthen its presence in AI healthcare, supporting global medical institutions in improving diagnostic efficiency and accuracy.
