BiOptic announced on the 12th that its subsidiary CatchGene has officially integrated its research and production operations into BiOptic. The nucleic acid extraction instrument and reagent production lines previously located at CatchGene’s Zhonghe facility have been relocated to BiOptic’s second plant in Xindian. Moving forward, product development and production planning will be led by BiOptic, while CatchGene will focus on market expansion, allowing for more effective integration of group resources.
BiOptic stated that following the integration, the company can now offer a comprehensive one-stop solution for genetic testing. With maximum production capacity increased by more than 50%, the company is better positioned to meet the growing demand in the precision medicine testing market.
Chairman Tsai, Shou-Kuan noted that the group has now completed its internal consolidation, including process management optimization, system integration, and cross-team collaboration. These efforts have significantly streamlined production flows, reduced transportation and communication costs, and created favorable conditions for deeper team integration. As a result, operational efficiency has been markedly improved, hidden costs reduced, and profit margins further expanded.
Tsai emphasized that nucleic acid extraction is a crucial process for ensuring sample quality in next-generation sequencing (NGS) and serves as a key step in scientific research, medical testing, reagent development, and validation in the biosciences. The group’s self-developed fully automated low-volume circulating nucleic acid purification system, iCATCHER, can extract trace amounts of circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) from liquid samples. With advancements in NGS technology, liquid biopsy is becoming a viable alternative to traditional solid tumor biopsies, playing an increasingly important role in cancer prediction, diagnosis, and monitoring. When combined with BiOptic’s next-generation Qsep Ultra biofragment analyzer and its associated reagents, the group’s integrated solutions offer enhanced competitiveness in precision medicine, preventive healthcare, cancer screening, and personalized medicine.
BiOptic recently reported February revenue of NT$14.3 million, an increase of 41.87% year-on-year. Cumulative revenue for the first two months reached NT$32.89 million, up 26.48% compared to the same period last year. The growth was mainly driven by sustained order transfers from the European market and the successful adjustment of distribution strategies in China, which led to a notable rebound in sales of instruments and cartridges.
The company stated that, with this phase of integration complete, it will now focus on aggressively expanding both domestic and international markets. Efforts will center on three major sectors: scientific research, genetic testing, and clinical diagnostics. BiOptic is committed to accelerating its transformation and upgrading, and with the synergy of its group integration taking effect, it maintains an optimistic outlook for its full-year performance.
