CHC Healthcare Group has announced a major milestone in its proton therapy business expansion, securing a NT$1.4 billion (approx. USD 45 million) contract with Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense. The contract, finalized through its wholly owned subsidiary Chiu Ho Medical System Co., Ltd., involves the sale of a cutting-edge proton therapy system to the medical center of the Tri-Service General Hospital.

Due to the complexity of hospital construction and equipment installation, the company anticipates revenue recognition no earlier than the second half of 2027.

Strategic Expansion of Proton Therapy in Taiwan

Chiu Ho Medical System holds exclusive distribution rights in Taiwan for Ion Beam Applications (IBA), a Belgium-based global leader in proton therapy system manufacturing. Through this partnership, CHC Healthcare Group is actively promoting advanced proton therapy solutions across Taiwan.

The company operates under two primary business models:

1. Leasing agreements with hospitals.
2. Direct equipment sales, with each system priced between USD 40–50 million.

Currently, CHC Healthcare Group has:

• A leasing agreement in place with Taipei Medical University Hospital.
• An equipment procurement contract with Changhua Christian Hospital, with installation scheduled for 2026.

New Military Hospital Contract Marks Another Breakthrough

The latest contract with Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense represents a significant achievement in expanding proton therapy accessibility. The agreement will see the deployment of a proton therapy system at Tri-Service General Hospital, a leading medical center and teaching hospital under the ministry.

Projected Timeline and Financial Outlook

CHC Healthcare Group noted that:

• Hospital infrastructure projects typically require 1–2 years for completion.
• Proton therapy system installation takes an additional 6–12 months.
• Total project duration is estimated at 2–3 years, with financial contributions expected from H2 2027 onward.

With this strategic expansion, CHC Healthcare Group continues to solidify its leadership in Taiwan’s high-end radiotherapy market, paving the way for broader clinical adoption of proton therapy in the region.
