Launxp Biomedical and TAYU Precision Join Forces to Develop Innovative Cancer Drug FormulationDec 13, 2024

On the 11th, Launxp Biomedical announced a strategic partnership with microneedle manufacturer TAYU Precision to create a revolutionary new formulation for cancer drugs. By leveraging cutting-edge microneedle technology, this collaboration aims to redefine drug delivery methods, providing cancer patients with more efficient and convenient treatment options.

Launxp has previously collaborated with the National Health Research Institutes (NHRI), the Development Center for Biotechnology (DCB), and China Medical University to license and develop multiple patented small-molecule drugs, as well as drug delivery platforms using virus-like particles (VLPs).

TAYU Precision, primarily known for manufacturing LCD modules and optical components, has actively expanded into new ventures in recent years. Utilizing its core technologies, the company has developed innovative products, including microneedle patches for medical and cosmetic applications. These patches are expected to have widespread applications in healthcare, aesthetics, and vaccines.

Unlike traditional transdermal absorption, microneedle technology delivers drugs by embedding hundreds of microscopic needles into a patch. These needles pierce the stratum corneum and release the drug intradermally. By incorporating TAYU’s microneedle technology into its pharmaceutical products, Launxp ensures painless, non-invasive, and precise drug delivery, significantly enhancing patient convenience. Launxp also plans to establish an innovative drug-controlled release platform using this system, which could reduce drug dosages, improve therapeutic efficacy, and potentially transform cancer treatment paradigms.

Launxp highlighted that LXPA1788, a multi-targeted cancer drug licensed from NHRI, has demonstrated significant anti-cancer properties in studies involving pancreatic, liver, gastric, colorectal cancers, and acute myeloid leukemia. This achievement recently earned the company the Gold Award for "Best Technical Collaboration" at the Taipei Biotech Awards.

Through this partnership, Launxp and TAYU have successfully incorporated LXPA1788 into the microneedle system and plan to test its absorption and efficacy in upcoming animal and clinical trials.
