Far East Medical Electronics Launches “Travel E-Zone” to Tap into Taiwan-Thailand Healthcare OpportunitiesNov 26, 2024

Far East Medical Electronics Technology (FEMET) participated in Taiwan Expo 2024 in Thailand, where Chairman Deng Jun Nan announced a collaboration with Thai telecommunications providers AIS and Dtac to offer the “Travel E-Zone” service for tourists visiting Thailand. This initiative is expected to generate over NT$10 million in revenue within the next year.

In addition, FEMET signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Wan Fang Hospital and the Thai-Taiwanese Healthcare Exchange Association. The collaboration aims to strengthen healthcare connections between Taiwan and the Thai Chinese community, fostering cross-border medical resource sharing and collaboration. This partnership seeks to unlock new opportunities and potential growth within the regional healthcare industry.

Since entering the Southeast Asian market in 2021, FEMET has progressively expanded its international medical consultation service platform to countries such as the Philippines, Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar. To date, FEMET has partnered with over 40 medical institutions across 15 countries, significantly increasing its market share in international healthcare services.

James Huang, Chairman of Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), highlighted during the expo’s opening ceremony that Thailand is a global leader in medical tourism, attracting international visitors seeking health checkups, aesthetic treatments, and wellness services. With advanced AI technologies increasingly applied in the healthcare sector, Thailand recorded approximately 35 million international tourist arrivals, according to the Thai Tourism Authority.

Recognizing Thailand's vast market potential, FEMET has actively integrated domestic and international medical institutions with telecom providers to establish a comprehensive international medical consultation platform. Through its collaboration with AIS and Dtac, the “Travel E-Zone” service aims to assist overseas travelers visiting Thailand, contributing to FEMET’s efforts to further penetrate the Thai healthcare market.

As part of its initiatives, FEMET hosted the 2024 Taiwan-Thailand Health Forum in Bangkok under the theme "Crossing Borders, Connecting Health: The Future of Telemedicine and Innovative Healthcare." Distinguished guests included representatives from Taiwan's Embassy in Thailand, such as Minister Hsieh Hsiu-Mei and Deputy Director Wang Huai-Te, alongside healthcare leaders from Wan Fang Hospital, Shuang-Ho Hospital, and the China Medical University Hospital, as well as FEMET representatives.

The forum sought to enhance regional healthcare cooperation, improve patient care quality, and create opportunities within the health industry. It also aimed to promote the application of Taiwan's medical technology, biotechnology, and telemedicine in Southeast Asia, while strengthening healthcare ties between Taiwan and the Thai Chinese community.
