Center Laboratories Increases Investment in Lumosa Therapeutics, Totaling Over NT$400 MillionSep 26, 2024

Center Laboratories has expressed strong confidence in the potential of Lumosa Therapeutics' stroke treatment and initiated a significant capital increase plan. On the 25th, Center Laboratories announced that its board of directors approved a cash capital increase for its subsidiary Lumosa Therapeutics, with an additional investment in Lumosa. The total investment for both initiatives will reach NT$400 million.

After participating in Lumosa’s capital increase, Center Laboratories' shareholding in Lumosa will rise from 32.78% to a maximum of 33.05%.

Center Laboratories has subscribed to Lumosa’s new shares at a price of NT$225 per share, purchasing 1,049,259 shares for approximately NT$236 million. The company sees great potential in Lumosa’s development of new stroke medications and plans to further increase its investment, with the total amount expected to reach NT$400 million.

According to Center Laboratories, on September 4, Lumosa resolved to conduct a capital increase in 2024, issuing 4 million ordinary shares to raise a total of NT$900 million. As Lumosa’s largest shareholder, Center Laboratories believes that Lumosa is at a pivotal stage, approaching the unblinding of its new acute ischemic stroke treatment LT3001. Should LT3001 succeed, it could revolutionize stroke treatment worldwide. Center Laboratories is fully committed to supporting Lumosa in completing this capital increase.

Lumosa’s LT3001 has undergone three critical Phase II clinical trials. The trial in China, led by its partner Shanghai Pharmaceuticals, has already completed patient enrollment and is expected to have unblinded results by early November this year. The two other multinational trials, led by Lumosa, are expected to be completed by 2025.

In addition, Lumosa’s already marketed long-acting pain relief injection, LT1001, has obtained drug approvals in six countries and continues to expand its licensing efforts into niche markets, providing the company with a stable revenue stream during this phase.

Center Laboratories emphasized that Lumosa Therapeutics, as the core business within the Center Laboratories Group focused on new drug development, has deeply invested in the stroke and neurovascular space. The company remains determined to tackle high-risk markets with significant clinical demand.
