Acer Medical’s VeriOsteo OP Successfully Obtains Indonesian Medical Device Approval, Expanding Southeast Asia Market MomentumSep 12, 2024

Acer's subsidiary, Acer Medical, has successfully obtained approval from Indonesia’s Ministry of Health for its AI-assisted bone density screening software, VeriOsteo OP. This orthopedic medical device will help monitor bone density in Indonesia, extending Acer Medical's strong market momentum in Southeast Asia.

VeriOsteo OP previously achieved success in Taiwan, securing approval from the Taiwan Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) last year. It became the first AI-powered medical device in Taiwan capable of detecting bone density abnormalities using chest X-rays.

According to Acer Medical, obtaining the certification in Indonesia offers a convenient tool to help protect the elderly population from osteoporosis. With over 200 million people, Indonesia is the fourth most populous country in the world, including more than 16 million elderly individuals. Bone density abnormalities are common among the elderly and often go undetected due to a lack of early awareness, leading to delayed treatment.

VeriOsteo OP analyzes spinal regions from chest X-ray images to estimate bone density values, aiding healthcare professionals in determining bone density levels. This tool assists in early diagnosis, enabling timely referrals or further medical intervention, thus maximizing opportunities for early detection and treatment.

Acer Medical focuses on developing AI-assisted screening software, offering the market "integrated smart medical solutions" that combine software and hardware. Currently, its AI medical imaging products have received 12 medical device approvals in Taiwan and internationally, and have been successfully implemented in over 300 healthcare institutions.
