On the 4th, Tanvex BioPharma (泰福-KY) announced that its board of directors has appointed Stephen Lam as CEO, effective August 5. With over 35 years of global operational experience in large-molecule biologics, Lam will oversee Tanvex's daily operations across Taiwan and the U.S., including its global CDMO (Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization) business development and the mass production and market launch of its biosimilars. His leadership marks a significant step in guiding Tanvex toward becoming a key player in the international CDMO landscape.
This appointment follows Bora Pharmaceuticals' (保瑞藥業) recent strategic investment announcement, in which Bora partnered with Tanvex to build a world-class biologics CDMO team. The collaboration aims to integrate the strengths of both companies efficiently, positioning them to capitalize on the rising demand for local production services spurred by recent industry dynamics, unlocking significant business opportunities.
Tanvex BioPharma Chairman Henry Chen, Ph.D., stated that Lam brings extensive hands-on experience in technical processes, quality management, and facility operations within the large-molecule field. Additionally, he has a proven track record in expanding global CDMO businesses and enhancing operational efficiency. Chen emphasized that this is a critical turning point for Tanvex’s entry into the global market. Under Lam’s leadership, the company is poised to maximize operational advantages and lay a solid foundation for future resource integration.
Stephen Lam expressed his honor in taking on the CEO role at Tanvex, recognizing the significant milestone for Taiwan's large-molecule biologics industry as it enters the global market. By effectively combining Tanvex's robust biosimilar development capabilities and its commercial production capacity in the U.S. with Bora Group’s extensive global CDMO platform, Tanvex aims to establish a strong reputation in the international CDMO market through high-tech, high-quality services. The newly integrated Tanvex will provide global clients with comprehensive product development and manufacturing services, from first clinical trials to commercial-scale production.
Lam has over 35 years of experience in the global large-molecule pharmaceutical industry, having held senior positions at leading biopharma companies such as Lonza, Amgen, and Patheon. His expertise spans quality analysis, preclinical manufacturing, technology transfer, facility management, and global strategy development. He later joined Thermo Fisher Scientific, one of the top 10 global CDMOs, where he served as General Manager of its biologics division, managing large-molecule biologics contract services. Lam is also a member of the Bora BioTech Scientific Advisory Board, offering guidance on R&D and manufacturing processes, and has deep familiarity with Taiwan’s biotech and pharmaceutical industry development.
