In the second quarter, Medigen Vaccine Biologics Corporation (MVC) saw a significant increase in the shipment of its enterovirus vaccine, leading to nearly a twofold increase in quarterly revenue and a return to profitability. The company reported earnings per share (EPS) of NT$0.04. With the enterovirus vaccine having been on the market for a year, all 220,000 doses that have been sealed and released were sold out, contributing approximately NT$550 million to revenue. As awareness of the importance of enterovirus vaccination grows among the Taiwanese population, MVC is optimistic that the penetration rate in Taiwan will double from the current 10% within three years. Additionally, the company is hopeful of securing approval in Vietnam by the end of this year or early next year, which would significantly boost its performance.
MVC recently announced second-quarter revenue of NT$175 million, representing a 199% quarter-on-quarter increase. The company achieved a gross profit of NT$140 million, reducing its operating loss to NT$2.66 million. After-tax net profit reached NT$13.55 million, translating to an EPS of NT$0.04. For the first half of the year, MVC reported cumulative revenue of NT$233 million, with an after-tax net loss of NT$59.85 million and a loss per share of NT$0.18. The company's just-released July revenue remains strong at NT$65.05 million, bringing the total for the first seven months to NT$298 million.
After one year on the market, MVC's enterovirus vaccine has captured over 95% of the market share in Taiwan. MVC reported that the 220,000 doses that had been sealed and released were all sold out by July, generating approximately NT$550 million in revenue, with a penetration rate in Taiwan of around 10%. An additional 58,000 doses, which recently completed sealing and inspection, began shipping this week, and the company expects this year’s total shipment volume to surpass that of last year. With increased promotion, the awareness and demand for enterovirus vaccination in Taiwan are expected to steadily rise, with an anticipated doubling of the penetration rate within three years.
Regarding Vietnam, the application for drug approval was submitted in May 2025, and industry experts estimate that approval could be granted as early as the end of this year or early next year, which would significantly boost MVC’s performance. Negotiations with local distributors are currently underway, and a deal could be finalized in the second half of the year.
