On May 24, Changhua Show Chwan Hospital signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with BeiGene Taiwan for clinical trial collaboration. Leveraging BeiGene’s extensive global clinical trial experience, the partnership will introduce cancer tumor clinical trials focusing on respiratory and head and neck cancers prevalent in the Changhua and Tainan regions. This initiative aims to bring the latest treatment technologies closer to patients, creating a win-win-win scenario for patients, hospitals, and the industry.
Show Chwan COO Chen Hsiu-chu stated that the hospital has long been dedicated to enhancing clinical research capabilities and the quality of treatment services, establishing itself as one of the leading clinical trial research and execution units in Taiwan. The hospital has set up the Clinical Research and Resource Office (CRRO), the Institutional Review Board (IRB), and recently established the Human Research Protection Center (HRPC) to ensure comprehensive protection for participants in new drug clinical trials.
Show Chwan Cancer Hospital Director Chang Cheng-hsiung remarked that BeiGene is currently conducting over 130 clinical trials in 45 countries. He believes that this collaboration marks a new milestone for Show Chwan’s clinical trial development. It not only enhances the hospital’s physicians’ participation in new drug research but also strengthens their expertise in new treatment trends, technologies, and drugs, ultimately providing patients with cutting-edge medical care and diagnostic quality.
BeiGene Taiwan and Hong Kong General Manager Chen Yi-Ya mentioned that BeiGene is currently focused on cancers with high incidence rates in Taiwan, such as lymphoma, small cell lung cancer, esophageal squamous cell carcinoma, and head and neck squamous cell carcinoma. This partnership with Show Chwan is expected to advance the development and application of new drugs. By accelerating the research and development of new drugs through local clinical trials, this collaboration aims to provide patients with more treatment opportunities.
