Cell therapy process orders support Hexun's doubled revenue growth in AprilMay 09, 2024

Benefiting from an increase in customer orders for cell therapy process development, Hexun Biosicences reported a revenue of NT$18.22 million in April, achieving a remarkable year-on-year doubling of revenue, with a growth rate of 168%. From January to April, the revenue reached NT$37.78 million, representing a staggering year-on-year growth of 201%.

Hexun stated that based on the current progress of customer-commissioned cell therapy development services, it has assisted multiple regenerative medicine companies in providing process optimization technology, product development, and production of clinical trial drugs needed for clinical trials. If everything progresses as expected, there is a chance that Hexun will gradually enter into Contract Manufacturing Organization (CMO) services for formulation production starting in the second half of this year, which could potentially drive impressive overall performance for the year.

To enhance its business order momentum, Hexun has been simultaneously improving the production efficiency of its cell preparation plant and optimizing its plant layout. The configuration of the new production line was recently completed, and applications for changes have been submitted to relevant authorities. There is a possibility that mass production orders will begin before the end of the second quarter. The overall capacity planning includes scaling up cell culture to ten-liter levels, reaching a hundred-liter level for exosome production, and increasing daily cell preparation to over 10,000 doses per day, positioning Hexun among the top three cell preparation plants in Taiwan compliant with international standards. The upgraded capacity will meet the growing demands of more CDMO clients and be utilized for international CDMO market development, providing additional momentum for operational growth.

In addition to continuous operational growth, Hexun is also committed to stem cell drug research and development. Through the development of next-generation cell drugs such as "allogeneic mesenchymal stem cells" and "stem cell derivatives," Hexun targets the underserved market in cardiovascular diseases where existing drugs fail to meet the demand. Clinical trials for umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells for cardiovascular diseases are actively progressing, with recruitment work already underway in collaboration with a well-known medical center in Taipei. The first stage of recruitment is expected to be completed as early as this year, accelerating the subsequent progress of clinical trials.
