Sunny Pharmtech's pulmonary fibrosis drug NTN has signed a sales contract with Company S for the US market. In the future, Sunny Pharmtech will be responsible for production, while Company S will handle promotion and sales after the drug's market launch. Company S will also assist in planning related licensing matters, becoming Sunny Pharmtech's strategic partner in the US market, targeting the lucrative $2.4 billion market opportunity for pulmonary fibrosis drugs.
According to the contract, Sunny Pharmtech will receive a total of $1.2 million in signing fees and milestone payments based on the development progress of NTN. Sunny Pharmtech will also share sales revenue once the drug is successfully launched. NTN, developed by Sunny Pharmtech, is expected to submit a drug application to the FDA in the second quarter of next year, actively seizing the vast market opportunity.
Sunny Pharmtech stated that Company S, its cooperation partner, is a generic drug manufacturer specializing in sterile injectable development. With over 50 generic drug approvals in the US, despite being established for just over a decade, Company S, under the leadership of an experienced professional team, has not only established various unique technological platforms and a diverse product portfolio of specialty generic drugs but has also adopted alliance strategies to assist partners in the commercialization of drugs in the US market, gaining a competitive advantage. Company S has become a well-known pharmaceutical company in the clinic and hospital fields in the US.
Chairman Yong-lian Wu of Sunny Pharmtech expressed great pleasure in establishing a long-term partnership with Company S. In the future, leveraging its marketing network established in the US, Sunny Pharmtech is optimistic that NTN can provide patients with another safe and highly effective treatment option.
NTN is a niche product jointly developed by Sunny Pharmtech and ANXO. ANXO is responsible for research and development, while Sunny Pharmtech produces it using its unique soft capsule production line. The two parties jointly invest in development, marketing, and profit sharing. NTN is a highly active and cytotoxic soft capsule drug with strict manufacturing conditions. The indication for NTN is the treatment of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, commonly known as " Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis, IPF." Due to the unclear pathogenesis, if the disease is neglected even slightly, it can deteriorate rapidly, with a mortality rate even higher than cancer. In recent years, this disease has gradually received attention, driving the continuous growth of the market for related therapeutic drugs. However, as the patents for original drugs have not yet expired, no generic drug has been approved for marketing to date.
According to IQVIA data, the US market sales of original drugs reached $2.4 billion (over NT$78.1 billion) in 2023. Currently, four competitor generic drugs have obtained tentative approval from the US FDA, but formal drug approval and market launch can only occur after the expiration of the original patents.
