Taipei Veterans General Hospital Initiates Medical Collaboration with QatarApr 19, 2024

Mr. Faisal Al Shiekh, a successful entrepreneur from Qatar in the Middle East, recently visited Taipei Veterans General Hospital (TVGH) with his delegation on April 18th. He expressed sincere interest in seeking international medical cooperation opportunities for his employees and the hospital. Mr. Al Shiekh hopes to arrange for employees from Qatar to receive advanced medical treatments and high-level health examinations at TVGH. He also proactively expressed his desire to invite TVGH to assist in the digital transformation of existing and planned hospitals in Qatar, aiming to improve work efficiency and medical quality. Concrete collaboration projects are being discussed.

Dr. Wui-Chiang Lee, Vice Superintendent of TVGH, represented the hospital in receiving the delegation. He gave a briefing on special medical features that particularly interested Mr. Al Shiekh, such as heavy ion cancer radiation therapy, artificial intelligence applications, and training for foreign medical professionals. Afterwards, the delegation visited the first heavy ion cancer treatment center, advanced health examination center, and top-tier wards. They were especially impressed by the well-equipped Muslim prayer room and praised the hospital's beautiful and healing environment.

Mr. Al Shiekh stated that although Qatar's per capita income ranks among the highest in the world, its medical resources are unable to meet the public's needs, especially in areas such as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, kidney diseases, and cancer. This leads to a significant reliance on overseas medical services, resulting in considerable government expenses.

Through his investment in a Taiwanese company, Mr. Al Shiekh became aware of Taiwan's most advanced hospitals, first-class medical quality, and reasonable costs. This prompted his special visit to TVGH to gain a firsthand understanding of the situation. During the visit, he repeatedly expressed his belief in "seeing is believing." After returning to Qatar, he plans to arrange for his employees to come to TVGH for health check-ups and medical treatments. He also invited Vice Superintendent Lee and others to visit hospitals in Qatar, with the intention of assisting in the introduction of similar intelligent medical services seen at TVGH, thereby enhancing their quality and efficiency.

This visit has opened up opportunities for medical collaboration and exchange between TVGH and Qatar. Both parties have agreed to start further discussions regarding the details of the exchange. They hope that this collaboration can be implemented as soon as possible, bringing more development opportunities to the international medical and intelligent medical industries of both countries.
