Taiwan's Ministry of Health and Welfare Greenlights PharmaEngine's Onivyde as First-Line Combo Therapy for Pancreatic CancerMar 19, 2024

According to the Cancer Registration Report of the Health Promotion Administration of the Ministry of Health and Welfare, a total of 3,190 people were diagnosed with pancreatic malignant tumors in Taiwan in 2021, and the number of deaths due to pancreatic malignant tumors was 2,659 in the same year. 

PharmaEngine's Onivyde has been approved by Taiwan's Ministry of Health and Welfare as a first-line combination therapy for treating metastatic pancreatic cancer. 

Onivyde is a liposome formulation of irinotecan, an anti-cancer drug developed using nanotechnology, used to treat adult patients with pancreatic cancer. Taiwan's Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) has approved SmartPancreatic's application for changes in indication and dosage for Onivyde, allowing it to be used as first-line treatment for metastatic pancreatic cancer in combination with oxaliplatin, 5-fluorouracil, and leucovorin.
