A professional drug delivery technology developer, Anxo Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd., announced on 1 June that the psychiatric drug milnacipran hydrochloride capsules 25mg and 50mg, jointly developed with its Chinese partner, has been officially issued with a drug approval by the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) in China.
The drug was previously only licensed for a 25mg dose in the Chinese market, with annual sales of around RMB100 million. With the support of local health insurance, it is expected to receive priority procurement from medical institutions, which is expected to effectively fill the supply gap.
Anxo is also very optimistic about the future sales of 50mg, as it is the only ingredient currently available in 50mg dosage form internationally.
The company's Chinese partner is a distributor and marketer of psychiatric pharmaceuticals to more than 5,000 hospitals in 31 provinces, cities and autonomous regions in China.
After the launch of milnacipran hydrochloride capsules, the partner will be responsible for the manufacturing of the capsules and the sales of the capsules in China.
