Advagene's nasal spray Covid-19 vaccine trial results to release in JuneApr 26, 2023

Advagene Biopharma Co., Ltd. announced that after treatment and observation, the data from all participants will be integrated for blinded analysis and data processing, and clinical results are expected to be released by the end of June.

The trial is a randomised, placebo-controlled trial of 30 patients with mild to moderate Covid-19, divided into two groups, with three intranasal doses of 20 micrograms of AD17002-SC administered over 5 and 15 days to assess safety, tolerability and potential efficacy. The last patient has been enrolled in the study, and data on safety and efficacy will be analyzed after the treatment is completed.

According to preclinical data, AD17002-SC is able to block viral invasion of the mucosa of the upper respiratory tract at the first stage of infection and is unable to develop further in the body; in addition, it can effectively protect the respiratory tract and lungs when used in the early stages of infection. AD17002-SC is also currently in phase II/III human trials for the treatment of Covid-19 in Indonesia.

The recent epidemic of the omicron variant Arcturus in India and other regions has led to an increase in the number of epidemics and the emergence of new diseases, indicating that Covid-19 is difficult to disappear and that more drugs and treatments are needed. As a result, AD17002-SC is expected to be one of the mainstays of the development of the next generation of therapeutics, and it is expected that after the results of the Phase IIa clinical trial are available in June this year, Advagene will increase the opportunities for international licensing or co-development to strive for early launch of the drug.
