Taiwan-Czech Republic Joint Cooperation for Strengthening Healthcare Systems in UkraineMar 08, 2023

Online, 16.00-18.00 (Taipei time), Thursday 2 March

The war in Ukraine until now has wreaked havoc on the country’s healthcare facilities and infrastructures, which led to casualties and a massive number of refugees. Being familiar with the Ukraine market, the Czech Republic offers helping hands immediately and seeks to extend the support further into healthcare.

Taiwan was thus brought to the attention of the Association of Manufacturers and Suppliers of Medical Devices, Czech Republic (hereafter ‘AVDZP’), where a couple of members of AVDZP participated in the Healthcare+ Expo in late 2022. Fascinated by Taiwan’s healthcare industry and supply chain, Mr Petr Foit, Deputy Chairman of AVDZP, initiated the meeting with the aim at strengthening Ukraine’s healthcare systems. Given the current situation in Ukraine, the focus has been set on what could be imperatives for care: general practice, one-day surgery and E-health initiatives.

AVDZP is pushing forward a government-funded project to support Ukrainians with healthcare solutions whilst building capacity for a post-war market expectedly to be heavily invested in reconstruction across the board. The project calls for Taiwanese companies that are interested in co-developing healthcare solutions with Czech to join to better supply the surging demands for care in Ukraine during and post the war.

The virtual meeting was co-organised by the Economic Division in Taipei Economic and Cultural Office based in Prague and the Institute of Biotechnology and Medicine Industry in Taipei. It was joined by nearly 20 Taiwanese companies that are Healthcare+ B2B corporate members (Advantech, BenQ, Chiun Mai Communication Systems, Hiwin Technologies, imedtac, Mediland, Onyx Healthcare, Singular Wings Medical and 10 more) and specialised in diagnostics, medical devices, telemedicine and smart hospital solutions.

AVDZP delegation will be visiting Taiwan in mid-March when it looks forward to further discussing in-person with companies recently engaged through Healthcare+ B2B.
