Chang Gung Hospital signs MOU with Pfizer to facilitate research and clinical trialsFeb 01, 2023

Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Linkou announced that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with Pfizer in Taiwan to collaborate on solving more clinical problems and has set up a three-stage plan to promote medical education and academic seminars in the first stage, develop medical research projects in the second stage, and promote the internationalization of clinical trials in Taiwan in the third stage to strive for more medical resources to connect with the international community.

The hospital is looking forward to using its practical clinical experience and alliances with the industry as a basis for future development, using the research on disease treatment at the hospital combined with Pfizer's drug efficacy analysis to find practical solutions to alleviate or cure illnesses and to better meet the clinical needs of patients.

In recent years, Pfizer has focused on the development of "Real World Evidence", hoping to provide patients with better treatment quality and new hope through continuous research and innovation.

According to Pfizer Taiwan, the alliance will open up more opportunities for exchange between industry and academic teams to enhance the research capacity of Taiwan's medical sector, and hopes to effectively combine professional resources from the medical sector with local data to continue to develop research related to real world evidence and find solutions to problems that cannot be solved in traditional phase III clinical trials.

Taiwan's local clinical research results will help to establish the correct guidelines for the use of medicines and ensure the safety of the public, especially in the areas of cancer and tumours, chronic heart diseases, and even infectious diseases that have recently had a significant impact on the public, which can be developed through local clinical trials to achieve the clinical approach of early prevention and early treatment, allowing Taiwan to continue to be an important driver of international healthcare.
