Taiwan Advanced Nanotech maps precision medicine and regenerative medicine into its operational strategyJan 18, 2023

Taiwan Advanced Nanotech Inc. ('TANbead' for short) will cooperate with major European and Asian companies in a factory-within-a-factory model, and strive to increase its operations quarter by quarter.

The core competency of TANbead's nanobead technology lies in its ability to produce superparamagnetic iron oxide (SPIO) nanoparticles with uniform particle size and to use the properties of magnetic nanoparticles to purify viral DNA for accurate detection. During the peak of Covid-19, a record number of testing reagents were sold to over 80 countries. On the other hand, the company's testing devices have been adopted by Incheon Airport in Korea, the Taiwan CDC and a clinical diagnostic centre in the European Union, and 25 patents have been obtained in the US, EU and Canada.

TANbead said that the company is focusing on the RUO market in the precision medical field, providing next-generation extraction equipment that is faster, less expensive and more flexible for the purification of various types of samples. There is a huge demand for replacement opportunities as many of the current laboratory equipment is old.

In the regenerative medicine segment, the company points out that cell sorting and purification is a key step in the cell therapy process, and the functional magnetic beads provided by TANbead can effectively sort and improve efficiency and contribute to revenue from consumables. Combined with years of experience in automated equipment, the new cell sorting machine has been initially confirmed to be able to keep cells active during the sorting and cleaning process, and the concept machine is expected to be launched in the second quarter.

Raman Chien, GM at TANbead, stressed that the company has a clear direction for its operations in the "precision medicine" and "regenerative medicine" fields in the coming year, and has been adjusting its team in line with its objectives in order to create more stable revenue momentum. In terms of products, the proportion of reagents and instruments this year is about 45% to 55%.
