NaviFUS partners with German-based Brainlab to develop ultrasound and neural navigation systemsNov 01, 2022

NaviFUS has signed a joint contract with Brainlab, a global leader in surgical imaging navigation, to integrate their innovative platform technologies for compatibility and clinical trial validation, which is expected to improve the safety and efficacy of paired treatments, and then to enter the world through Brainlab's global sales network.

Brainlab is a multinational medical technology company headquartered in Munich, Germany, with 25 locations and more than 6,000 hospitals worldwide using the devices or systems technology they have developed, according to NaviFUS.

According to a Verified Market Research survey conducted in July this year, the demand for minimally invasive and precision-guided surgery has increased significantly as there are approximately 960 million people over the age of 60 worldwide. The market for surgical navigation systems is expected to grow at 6.5% per annum to approximately NTD 360 billion by 2030. Currently, surgical navigation is used in five major areas (neurology, osteoarthritis, spine, dentistry and ENT), with nerve navigation accounting for the largest market share of 37%, mainly in brain cancer and other central diseases, and Brainlab has the world's largest market share in nerve navigation.

Brainlab has always focused on image processing software development and has excelled in using this technology to find and enhance the value of medical images for diagnostic purposes. Brainlab's collaboration with NaviFUS will provide a powerful medical showcase to benefit brain cancer patients.

Due to the non-invasive and safe therapeutic nature of NaviFUS system, there is great potential to apply its neuromodulation capabilities to the treatment of chronic conditions such as intractable epilepsy. The integration with the NaviFUS system has the potential to make Brainlab products more widely available for procurement.

Mr. Lung, President of NaviFUS, said that the collaboration with Brainlab's superior technology and sales channels will not only enhance the performance of our own products, but is also expected to accelerate the market acceptance of NaviFUS's focused ultrasound and achieve global distribution status. We are looking forward to the combined effect of this partnership, which will enable us to commercialise our products in the future.
