Following the retirement of former Deputy Director-General Pang Yi-ming, the National Health Insurance Administration (NHIA) has appointed Dr. Yen Chia-jui, the former Director of the Oncology Department at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) Hospital, to the post. Dr. Yen officially assumed office on February 9.

• Professional Background: Dr. Yen is a leading authority in gastrointestinal oncology in Taiwan. An alumnus of National Yang Ming University, he has a distinguished career at NCKU Hospital, serving as Director of the Cancer Center and the Clinical Trial Center.
• Academic & Clinical Leadership: He has held prominent roles in the Taiwan Head and Neck Oncology Society, the Chinese Oncology Society, and the Taiwan Neuroendocrine Tumor Society. He is also a Professor of Internal Medicine and Oncology at NCKU.
• Strategic Vision: Dr. Yen stated that his appointment was recommended by mentors within President Lai’s "Healthy Taiwan" advisory committee. He aims to leverage his deep expertise in oncology and clinical trials to advance cancer-related policies and professional initiatives within the NHIA.
