Chunghwa Telecom Bolsters Medical Resilience with "Blood Supply Resilience System"Dec 16, 2025

In a race against time for trauma patients, the New Taipei City Fire Department has partnered with Chunghwa Telecom, Tri-Service General Hospital, New Taipei City Hospital (Sanchong), and the Taiwan Blood Services Foundation to launch the "Blood Supply Resilience System."

  • The Technology: The system utilizes drones, aerial cold chains, and smart insulation boxes to ensure blood products reach patients "pre-hospital" during the "Golden Hour."
  • Connectivity: Chunghwa Telecom provides a 5G low-latency network and its "Sea-Land-Air-Space" (undersea cable, fiber, mobile, satellite, microwave) high-resilience architecture. This ensures stable drone control and real-time video feedback for remote consultations via "telemedicine suitcases."
  • Outcome: Simulations show a 50% reduction in blood delivery time compared to traditional methods.
  • Award: The project, titled "A Song of Ice and Fire: Flying Blood and Smart Cold Chain," won the Presidential Hackathon Excellence Award and was recognized by President Lai Ching-te on December 14, 2025. The system will soon be expanded to remote areas and offshore islands.
