NYCU Hospital Unveils Smart Precision Medicine Achievements at Healthcare+ ExpoDec 03, 2025

National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU) Hospital is showcasing its latest breakthroughs in minimally invasive and precision surgery at the Taiwan Healthcare+ Expo (Dec 4–7). Key highlights include a high-tech Smart Hybrid Operating Room, computer-navigated orthopedic solutions, and a "Dental GPS" 3D implant system, all aimed at enhancing patient safety and accelerating recovery.

Technical Highlights:

  • Smart Hybrid OR: Combining 3D navigation with real-time imaging (e.g., C-arm CT), this facility allows multidisciplinary teams to perform high-complexity surgeries with extreme precision, shifting the hospital into the era of Image-Guided Surgery (IGS).
  • Minimally Invasive Computer-Navigated Spine Surgery: This system provides real-time feedback for pedicle screw placement, maximizing accuracy and minimizing the risk of nerve damage. It has been successfully applied in nearly 100 complex cases, including scoliosis and long-segment fixation.
  • X-Guide 3D Dental Navigation: Utilizing optical tracking to guide instruments in real-time, this system is reportedly 11 times more accurate than traditional methods, enabling minimally invasive implants with reduced swelling and shorter chair time.
  • FSOR Integrated Video System: Acting as the "brain" of the OR, this system integrates multi-channel surgical video with patient data, ensuring seamless EMR (Electronic Medical Record) synchronization and supporting remote surgical collaboration.
