SunWay Biotech’s New Ingredient Adopted by Austrian Brand; Relocation Set for H2 to Accelerate Global Health Supplement Market ExpansionJun 10, 2025

SunWay Biotech announced on the 9th that its patented ingredient “ExoBDNF,” known for supporting neurotrophic factors, has been adopted by the well-known Austrian health supplement brand Natursubstanzen. This marks another milestone following the successful adoption of SunWay’s patented red yeast rice ingredient “Ankascin 568” by several European clients. Natursubstanzen is expected to launch new products featuring ExoBDNF, while multiple European export clients continue to collaborate on new product development. With the company’s relocation to its new Xizhi facility scheduled for the second half of the year, SunWay plans to aggressively expand its global health supplement market share and build a vertically integrated next-generation nutraceutical business.

Since becoming part of Bora Pharmaceuticals, SunWay has integrated three core elements—exclusive-specification raw material R&D, product strategy, and channel and marketing resources—showing initial signs of competitive advantage. Bora United, a subsidiary, continues to optimize its channel strategy. Its red yeast rice-based anti-hangover product line, “Yin Haoshuang,” will soon be launched in 7-ELEVEN convenience stores, making it the chain’s first anti-hangover offering. The product will also be featured at the Kaohsiung Beer Music Festival in July, hosted by the Uni-President Group, enhancing brand visibility and consumer engagement. Additionally, SunWay’s high-concentration “Boposite Fish Oil,” a market leader in Taiwan, is now available in Dashi Pharmacy chain stores.

Further leveraging pharmaceutical-grade dosage design thinking, SunWay extended the popularity of its in-house brand BOOST’s effervescent tablets, which are sold at POYA retail stores. The newly launched “Boposite Lutein Micro-Effervescent Lozenge” was made available exclusively through Costco earlier this year and has outperformed management expectations, aligning with the global trend of double-digit CAGR in effervescent formulations.

Beyond proprietary product development, SunWay is also expanding its health supplement distribution business under original manufacturer endorsement. In the second half of the year, it will extend its partnership with Shionogi’s product line by adding several whitening products. Meanwhile, its prescription pharmaceutical business—particularly focused on the central nervous system—continues to see steady growth and serves as a solid foundation for long-term development.

Chairman Bobby Sheng stated that SunWay’s strength in raw material R&D has earned solid trust from clients. The company has long been the key supplier for Minshi’s "Nia Jia Da Hong Qu," one of Taiwan’s best-selling red yeast rice supplements. Backed by Bora Pharmaceuticals’ strong expertise in Western medicine, SunWay has maintained a first-mover advantage in innovative formulations and positioning. With steady orders from multiple European clients and ongoing co-development of new products, the company is poised to ramp up global expansion in the second half following its move to the Xizhi plant—realizing a fully integrated next-generation health supplement business from functional ingredient R&D and dosage design to clinical validation and end-brand management.
