Catcher Technology Chairman Hong Shui-Shu: Revenue Contribution from New Businesses in Healthcare, Semiconductors, and Aerospace Expected to Reach Double Digits This YearMay 28, 2025

Catcher Technology, a major casing manufacturer, held its shareholders’ meeting yesterday (27th). Following the meeting, Chairman Hong Shui-Shu told the media that the company is actively expanding into new business sectors, including healthcare, semiconductors, and aerospace. As these emerging fields are less affected by economic cycles, he expects their combined revenue contribution to reach double digits this year.

Hong explained that in the healthcare sector, the customer base is relatively dispersed, allowing the company to engage with a diverse range of clients and product lines. This makes for a faster development pace in the medical field. In contrast, semiconductor clients are more concentrated but operate on a much larger global scale. The aerospace sector, divided into Eastern and Western blocs, features a complex, multi-tiered production system, providing numerous points of entry for potential business.

Although growth curves in new businesses are hard to predict, Hong believes that while initial progress may be slow, growth is likely to become exponential in later stages.

He emphasized that demand in these three sectors does not disappear within a year, and unlike consumer products, they are not heavily influenced by economic conditions. As long as the company continues to build expertise and gain market recognition, order acquisition will become easier. At that point, strategic investments and acquisitions will present greater opportunities, positioning Catcher as a platform integrator in these industries.

On the topic of AI, Hong noted that AI applications place particularly high demands on structural components, and Catcher has already entered related fields, calling it “an emerging opportunity.”

However, regarding the outlook for the second half of the year, Hong acknowledged that "this is a challenging year" due to constantly shifting market dynamics. He noted that although tariff enforcement was postponed in the first half of the year, customers still front-loaded orders. Going forward, inflationary pressures caused by tariffs may begin to surface and impact end-user consumption, leading to a more cautious view for the latter half of the year.

As for overseas expansion, Hong said that establishing overseas production—from land acquisition and plant construction to equipment installation and the start of operations—typically takes two to three years. Given the rapidly changing global supply chain landscape, Catcher's expansion in Southeast Asia has been relatively conservative, with only a new plant in Thailand currently under construction. The key factor in deciding whether to expand, he said, lies in whether customer needs can be met; if current capacity is sufficient, further expansion will not be pursued.
