On the 22nd, Mycenax Biotech announced that, in collaboration with three strategic partners in Japan, it has secured approval from the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) for a grant under the “Medical Facility Development Subsidy” program. The three companies will work together with Mycenax to promote the establishment of a manufacturing facility in Japan for both drug substance (DS) and drug product (DP) production of biologics.
According to Mycenax, its partners in this initiative include Alfresa, a leading pharmaceutical distribution group in Japan with its own pharmaceutical business and a broad domestic supply chain network, generating annual revenue of over NT$600 billion; Kidswell, a well-known biosimilar developer with four marketed products in Japan; and Chiome, a biologics drug developer with extensive experience in antibody-based therapeutic development.
With a strong track record in biologics development and manufacturing, GMP facility construction and operation, mature production technologies, and quality control systems—along with having passed inspections by regulatory authorities from multiple countries—Mycenax earned the recognition of long-time Japanese client Kidswell, which extended the invitation to participate in this collaboration. The four parties are currently in active discussions regarding the details of the partnership.
Mycenax has recently seen a series of significant breakthroughs, first signing a long-term stable supply agreement with a Japanese client and now announcing participation in this joint venture with Japanese partners. These milestones not only demonstrate that Mycenax has firmly established its presence in the Japanese market, but also affirm the company’s capabilities at an international level.
