Taipei Veterans General Hospital (TVGH) recently inaugurated the "Taiwan Telemedicine Industry Office" at Hanoi's Hong Ngoc Phuc Truong Minh General Hospital, marking the first time a Taiwanese hospital has set up such an office overseas. This hospital is a leading private healthcare institution in northern Vietnam. TVGH highlighted that this milestone represents a critical step forward in bringing Taiwan's advanced medical industry and technology to the international market, particularly benefiting the Vietnamese population, while also deepening collaborative partnerships with Vietnam's medical professionals.
The opening ceremony on January 17 was attended by distinguished guests, including Richard R.C. Shih, Ambassador of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Vietnam; Nguyen Truong Ba, Secretary General of the Vietnam Government's Committee for Continental Affairs; Professor Chin-Su Liu from Taipei Veterans General Hospital; representatives from Hanoi's Hong Ngoc Phuc Truong Minh General Hospital; and business representatives from Taiwanese chambers of commerce and the Vietnamese business community.
In his speech, Ambassador Shih expressed his excitement about the office's opening, emphasizing the strengthened bilateral collaboration efforts between the two hospitals across various fields. He noted that the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Vietnam plays a leading role in enhancing Taiwan's international image and has consistently supported the coordination between the two hospitals to achieve successful outcomes.
TVGH stated that its physicians will soon be able to offer real telemedicine consultations to Vietnamese patients. Under Taiwan's "New Southbound Policy," TVGH has been a leader in fostering partnerships with Vietnamese hospitals, universities, and medical institutions. To date, the hospital has signed 30 memorandums of understanding with Vietnamese counterparts.
