Lotus Pharmaceutical Completes Early Acquisition of Anti-Inflammatory Drug in Vietnam, Contributing to Revenue This QuarterJan 09, 2025

Lotus Pharmaceutical announced today that it completed the acquisition of the trademark, drug license, and manufacturing technology for Alphachymotrypsine Choay from Sanofi in Vietnam on January 6, ahead of the previously estimated schedule. Lotus is set to officially recognize sales revenue from Alphachymotrypsine Choay in Vietnam starting in the first quarter of 2025, marking a significant milestone in the company’s expansion into the Southeast Asian market.

According to Lotus, Alphachymotrypsine Choay (Chymotrypsine) is a widely used therapeutic drug in Vietnam, primarily prescribed for treating edema caused by trauma, surgery, or burns. With effective anti-inflammatory properties, it accelerates the body’s absorption of inflammation-induced edema, as well as hematoma and edema following surgery or injury. In 2023, Alphachymotrypsine Choay achieved sales of over $22 million in Vietnam and Cambodia.

Petar Vazharov, CEO of Lotus Pharmaceutical, stated, “The completion of the acquisition of Alphachymotrypsine Choay in Vietnam is a significant achievement for Lotus. It allows us to fully integrate Alphachymotrypsine Choay into our product portfolio and provide patients with a trusted and effective anti-inflammatory treatment. This milestone further strengthens our presence in the region and demonstrates Lotus’s commitment to expanding our footprint in the Southeast Asian market.”

Lotus noted that Alphachymotrypsine Choay is the company’s second acquisition in Southeast Asia. Lotus is actively pursuing growth opportunities in the region, aiming to become a leading pharmaceutical company in the Asia-Pacific by acquiring strong regional brands and integrating them into its product portfolio.
