Bora Pharmaceuticals has been actively pursuing mergers and acquisitions. Chairman Bobby Sheng emphasized that the integration process following these acquisitions has demonstrated the company’s ability to rapidly strengthen its core operations, with long-term benefits gradually becoming evident. The recently acquired sterile injectable and filling facility in Baltimore, U.S., commenced a two-month equipment upgrade in November. Once completed, the facility will comply with the latest EU GMP Annex 1 standards.
According to Sheng, this development not only completes Bora’s strategic footprint in the U.S. CDMO sector but also creates new opportunities for expanding orders in the European market, significantly enhancing the company’s global competitiveness. Looking ahead, Bora aims to deepen its global presence through a dual-engine strategy of CDMO services and global sales, leveraging innovation and efficiency to solidify its position as a leader in the global pharmaceutical industry.
At Taiwan’s prestigious M&A Golden Synergy Awards this year, Bora Pharmaceuticals stood out among 149 cases to win both the "Most Representative M&A Award" and the "Best Cross-border M&A Award."
The judging panel highly praised Bora for setting a benchmark as Taiwan's first large-scale pharmaceutical company to enter the U.S. market and for demonstrating exceptional synergy in this acquisition. By acquiring Upsher-Smith Laboratories (USL), a century-old American pharmaceutical company, Bora successfully overcame critical barriers to entering the world’s largest pharmaceutical market. The acquisition also expanded its pediatric neurology product line with VIGADRONE (vigabatrin) and leveraged USL’s established sales channels to enrich its product portfolio, fully realizing the benefits of the acquisition.
Furthermore, in July of this year, USL and Bora-owned TWi Pharmaceuticals successfully completed logistics integration, transferring TWi USA’s third-party logistics operations to USL’s in-house logistics center. This integration significantly improved distribution efficiency, reduced management costs, and boosted revenue.
