PharmaEssentia has seen strong sales growth of its rare blood cancer drug, Ropeg, in the US and Japan markets, achieving October revenues of NT$910 million, a year-on-year increase of 67.02%. Cumulative revenue for the first ten months of the year reached NT$7.59 billion, up 89.4% year-over-year.
PharmaEssentia stated that since Ropeg’s market launch, global sales have steadily climbed. Currently, the US FDA has set a target date of January 10, 2025, for the review of the sBLA for Ropeg's prefilled syringe. The company eagerly anticipates bringing this product to market as soon as possible to meet patient needs.
In the US, the company’s subsidiary has launched comprehensive commercial data analyses to support future strategic planning. Combined with the strengths of a newly appointed US leadership team, these efforts are expected to boost Ropeg’s market penetration.
Meanwhile, PharmaEssentia’s Japanese subsidiary launched a home delivery service for medications on October 1, making it easier for patients to access their medications. This service is expected to gradually gain traction, supporting steady revenue growth.
In addition to Ropeg’s success for rare blood cancers, PharmaEssentia is aggressively advancing new drug development. Ropeg is currently in a global Phase III clinical trial for essential thrombocythemia (ET), with top-line results expected as early as late this year or early next year. Additionally, Ropeg’s Phase III clinical trial for early-stage primary myelofibrosis (PMF) in patients with low to intermediate-1 risk has received approval from Japan’s PMDA.
Recognizing that solid tumor treatment is increasingly embracing cell therapies—particularly T-cell receptor (TCR-T) immunotherapy, which involves complex technology and high costs—PharmaEssentia has recently applied to Taiwan’s TFDA for Phase I clinical trials of its TCR-T cell therapy, TCRT-ESO-A2-TW, targeting late-stage solid tumor patients, marking its official entry into the cell therapy field.
